Wheeler excited about new season

Wheeler would not be drawn on Andy Goode's future

Leicester Tigers chief executive Peter Wheeler believes the season ahead will be a successful one for the club.

Former Blue Bulls coach Heyneke Meyer arrives in Leicester early next week to head a new coaching structure.

Wheeler told BBC Radio Leicester: "Heyneke wants to make sure he has the best coaching team because they will have the influence on the players."

"He will enable the players to reach their potential and the team likewise," Wheeler added.

Work will also begin next month on a new north stand at Welford Road which will seat 10,000 supporters.

"We're taking a big step this year and hope to be successful on a European level."

But Wheeler would not comment on speculation that Andy Goode is set to move to French side, Brive.

"Andy is under contract with us for another year so whatever happens would need to be agreed with us," he concluded.
