Gloucester began the year fourth in the Premiership, but coach Dean Ryan masterminded a run of nine straight wins to claim top spot in the table and a place in the final against Leicester at Twickenham.

Ryan's side were swept aside, but the 41-year-old head coach wasted no time in bolstering the ranks with a string of high-profile signings.
