OK, he is hardly a new name in the Premiership, having impressed for London Irish before finding a new gear after joining Wasps. But the 28-year-old inside centre is now eligible for England and, whatever the whys and wherefores of picking "overseas players" for England, he looks destined to pull on the red rose. Last season's PRA Player of the Year is physical, quick, with great hands and a fine reading of the game, and he has rapidly struck up a superb partnership with English rugby's boy wonder Danny Cipriani. Able to fit in at fly-half when required, as demonstrated by his superb Premiership final display in the win over Leicester, the Maori from Wairarapa has already declared it would be a "fantastic honour" to represent his adopted country.
