During the 2005/2006 season, Hunter elected to continue playing often describing the pain he was suffering from and lack of feeling in his cueing arm, in post-match interviews.
"It's been tough for me because I've not really enjoyed playing while I've been ill," he said.
He competed at his favourite snooker home, Wembley, for the Masters and also made a brave appearance at the Crucible.
It was the last time both historic venues would be graced by the presence of the talented player from Leeds.
