Kieren Fallon guided Yeats to an impressive all-the-way win in the Coronation Cup at Epsom. The six-time champion jockey never looked in danger as he set a searching gallop in the Group One contest.
Yeats (5-1) ran out an easy winner ahead of 2-1 favourite Alkaased with French raider Reefscape (11-2) third.
It was a textbook ride from Fallon as he claimed his second win of the Derby meeting's opening day following success on Momtic in the Vodafone Mile.
Warrsan, bidding for a third consecutive win, was unplaced as he struggled to stay with the pace.
Fallon pushed on coming out of Tattenham Corner and although Alkaased made up a lot of ground in the final two furlongs, he never looked like catching the leader.
The winning jockey revealed that it had always been the plan to make the running.
"Aidan (O'Brien, winning trainer) said if nothing went on to let the horse bowl along, and looking through the form there weren't many in there that would want to make the running," Fallon told the BBC.
O'Brien said Yeats, who was the favourite for last year's Derby befoer picking up an injury, could now run in the King George and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
"He is a lovely horse and is still coming on," said the Irish trainer.
"I might have over-trained him for the Derby last year, which could have brought on his problems, and we learned a lot from that.
"We started off with a different approach with him this year and every run will bring him on."
