Racewatch: Day five
Another big crowd packed into Ascot for the fifth and final day of the 2004 Royal meeting.

Fayr Jag, ridden by Willie Supple, won the day's feature race the Golden Jubilee Stakes at 12-1.

The day's other prestigious sprint, the Wokingham Stakes was won by the 6-1 favourite Lafi, ridden by Eddie Ahern.

1735 - Queen Alexandra Stakes (2m 6f)
1. Corrib Eclipse (J Poulton) JF Egan 25-1
2. Dancing Bay K Fallon 11-2
3. Romany Prince Dane O'Neill 6-1
12 ran

Corrib Eclipse landed a big victory to finish the Royal Ascot meeting on a high with a 25-1 success - a second win of the week for trainer Jamie Poulton.

The early pace was set by Windermere and Double Honour but coming into the straight, it was anyone's race.

However jockey John Egan came through with a darting run on the inside and managed to hold off the challenge of Kieren Fallon on Dancing Bay, who seemed to be hampered with a couple of furlongs to go but recovered well.

1700 - Duke of Edinburgh Stakes (1m 4f)
1. Wunderwood (Lady Herries) S Sanders 15-2
2. Pagan Dance MJ Kinane 8-1
3. Swift Tango L Dettori 9-2
13 ran. Dist: 3, sh-hd

Wunderwood and Seb Sanders swooped on the outside with a furlong to go to win the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes.

Much of the running was made by Ocean Avenue and Hambledon and the pair looked set to fight it out when they turned for home in the lead.

But Wunderwood, trained by Lady Herries, showed a great turn of foot to run out an easy winner.

1625 - Wokingham Stakes (6f)
1. Lafi (D Nicholls) E Ahern 6-1
2. Coconut Penang S Whitworth 12-1
3. High Reach K Fallon 10-1
4. Royal Storm MJ Kinane 16-1
29 ran. Dist: 1, nk

The well-fancied Lafi gave trainer Dandy Nicholls and jockey Eddie Ahern a popular victory in the Wokingham Stakes - a first Royal Ascot victory for the trainer.

In a keenly-contested race, Lafi, who was drawn on the far side, was guided into the middle of the track with a furlong to go and he ran on superbly to win.

On the stand side, Coconut Penang edged out High Reach for second place.

1545 - Golden Jubilee Stakes (6f)
1. Fayr Jag (T Easterby) W Supple 12-1
2. Crystal Castle K Fallon 8-1
3. Cape of Good Hope M Kinane 13-2
14 ran. Dist: hd, hd

Fayr Jag showed his best form when it mattered to win the Golden Jubilee Stakes for trainer Tim Easterby.

Under the guidance of Willie Supple, the horse took the lead coming into the final furlong and a half and held off the challenge of Kieren Fallon on the fast-finishing Crystal Castle.

Overseas raider Cape of Good Hope put in a fine run to take third.

1505 - Hardwicke Stakes (1m 4f)
1. Doyen (S bin Suroor) L Dettori 6-5f
2. High Accolade W Supple 9-4
3. Persian Majesty J Murtagh 6-1
6 ran. Dist: 6,

Frankie Dettori claimed his sixth winner of the meeting when the well-fancied Doyen recorded an easy win in the Hardwicke Stakes.

While Songlanrk and Systematic battled it out turning into the bend, Dettori mounted a strong challenge on the favourite with around two furlongs to go, moving up on the outside.

He stretched his advantage to win comfortably and set a new course record to make up for a disappointment defeat in the Coronation Stakes at Epsom.

1430 - Chesham Stakes (7f)
1. Whazzat (B Hills) M Hills 7-1
2. Brecon Beacon K Fallon 7-1
3. Wilko E Ahern 16-1
11 ran. Dist: 3, hd

Whazzat gives father and son Barry and Michael Hills their first win of this year's meeting.

The two-year-old filly pulled clear of her rivals within the last furlong with Hills weaving his way through the field.

Brecon Beacon and Kieren Fallon managed to hold on for second, keeping just ahead of the strong-finishing Wilko and Eddie Ahern.
