Which athletes will shine in 2008?
Chinese hurdler Liu Xiang
Great expectations
If I was Chinese hurdler Liu Xiang, I'd be very afraid. I had similar pressure in my post-world record year in 1996. I felt the gold medal was hung round my neck.

It will be a really tough year for him. He will have been eating, sleeping and drinking it all for the last two years, and now it's here.

It won't just be a case of producing his best. There is Cuba's Dayron Robles, who may be even better.

Liu is a fabulous athlete, but he's got a real job managing himself through this year. It will be interesting to see how he does it competitively.
