Vijay Singh's intensive practice regime is well known and he has been rewarded with many titles.
Golf coach Nick Bradley takes a closer look at his swing.
Vijay's swing contains more flow, rhythm and instinct than the whole of the European Tour put together.
In other words, the 'whole' in this case is more important than its isolated 'parts'.
Although Vijay is technically sound in his set-up he displays some swing characteristics that would explain why he has to practice more than any other Tour pro.
SET-UP
Vijay's swing has a dead start.
There's no pre-swing waggle with the club over the ball. Once the club is set behind the ball at the address it stays there until the swing is underway.
Fundamentally, his grip, posture and alignment are textbook reducing future swing compensations to a minimum.
SWING
One of the interesting aspects of a 'dead start' is in the wide arm swing action it promotes away from the ball.
Vijay's swing goes wide into the backswing to narrow in the downswing.

Many of today's modern swings have a 'tick-tock' beat to them, which lends itself to a neat controllable motion.
If you ever stand next to Vijay as he hits balls, you really get a sensation that he 'collects' his energy at the top of his swing.
Golf swings usually snatch from the top when power has to be 'looked for', but for Vijay his transition is smooth and fluid.
IMPACT AND FINISH
Such is the potency of Vijay's action that his right hand often appears to come off the club at impact.
The only negative aspect of a wide to narrow swing is that you can sacrifice positional quality and because of this combination with his power the right hand simply cannot 'hang on' for the ride.
The last tell tale sign of his action can be found in the high, wide and relatively slow finish to the arm swing.
As a 'worker' of the ball this finish position can change according to what Vijay wants to do with the ball.
