Dougherty slips in Sweden
Scandinavian Masters

Adam Scott
Scott has missed the cut in his last three events
Nick Dougherty's hold on the Scandinavian Masters slipped on Saturday as Australia's Adam Scott and Dutch challenger Maarten Lafeber took over at the top of the leaderboard.

Scott carded a third-round 67 - five under par - for an eight-under total of 208.

Lafeber then joined him on that score courtesy of a last-hole birdie that gave him a 69.

In contrast, Dougherty, who led the field after each of the first two rounds, saw his three-shot lead evaporate as he struggled to a 74.

The 21-year-old is now two strokes off the pace, in a group containing his Walker Cup team-mate Luke Donald, Midlander Steve Webster and Swede Carl Pettersson, who set a course record with a 66.

Scott had missed the cut in his last three events since finishing eighth in the defence of his Scottish PGA Championship.

But his flawless 67 contained five birdies and means he is yet to have a single three-putt this week after months of problems on the greens.

"The last couple of months I've not felt like I could win," admitted Scott.

"I've been going to tournaments hoping to get it round but the last three days have shown me that if I play like I did today on Sunday, it will take a great round to beat me.

"I said to myself the goal was not to make any bogeys because I knew I was making five birdies a round and that was exactly what I did so I was pretty happy with that."

US Open champion Jim Furyk
Furyk leads by one shot on 17-under par
US Open champion Jim Furyk birdied the par-four 18th for a seven-under-par 65 and a one-shot lead after the third round on Saturday.

Furyk finished with a 17-under total of 199, one ahead of Carl Paulson (65).

Neal Lancaster, without a win on the PGA Tour since the 1994 Byron Nelson Classic, carded a 66 to move into third place on 15 under.

Paul Goydos (66), Kenny Perry (66), Chris DiMarco (71) and Australia's Paul Gow (69) were tied for fourth on 14 under.

Defending champion and world number one Tiger Woods (69) was one of three players on 13 under.

Furyk has 12 top-10 finishes in 18 starts this season and moved to the top of the leaderboard with a bogey-free round on Saturday.

He birdied the first, third and seventh holes en route to an outward 33 at the Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club.

On the back nine, Furyk birdied the 10th, 13th and 14th before picking up another stroke at the last.
