Peter Jacobsen shot a final-round 67 to claim his first USPGA Tour title for eight years with a two-shot victory in the Greater Hartford Open. The 49-year-old, who led from the first round onwards, also won the tournament 19 years ago in the first year it was played at the TPC of Connecticut.
That was his second win of 1984 but he won just once over the next 10 years before a pair of victories early in 1995.
They remained his last titles until now, eight months away from his 50th birthday and eligibility for the Champions Tour.
Jacobsen became the latest veteran to win an event after victories by Craig Stadler and Tom Watson in the last two fortnight.

"I've been so inspired by Craig Stadler and Jay Haas and Tom Watson," said Jacobsen, who notched his seventh career victory. He enjoyed a solid but unspectacular final round, which was devoid of drama as many challengers started slowly or faltered late.
Jacobsen finished on 14 under par, two shots better than Chris Riley.
After parring the final hole, Jacobsen tipped his visor as his 21-year-old daughter Kristen ran on to the green to hug her father.
