 Pak overhauled Sorenstam's two-shot lead |
South Korea's Se Ri Pak fired a stunning final-round 64 to snatch victory in the Safeway Ping tournament at Moon Valley in Phoenix, Arizona.Pak raced to 23 under par to win by a shot from compatriot Grace Park (66) and edge out overnight leader Annika Sorenstam, of Sweden.
World number one Sorenstam had led by two shots from France's Patricia Meunier-Lebouc with Pak, Park and Australia's Karrie Webb one shot further back.
The Swede was expected to continue in the same vein that saw her win 13 times last year.
But she carded a lacklustre final-round 71 and had to settle for a share of third place with Korea's Hee-Won Han (66) and Meunier-Lebouc (69).
"Not my day," she said. "But Se Ri had a great final round and 23 under is a fantastic total."

For Pak, it was the perfect build-up to this week's first Major of the season, the Kraft Nabisco Championship in Palm Springs, California. "I knew I had to produce something special, and it's great to win today," said the 25-year-old after her 19th career win.
"I thought I had to shoot a good score, eight-under, to win. It felt really solid.
"So just go out and have some fun at the same time, do my best, and then that was the focus. Then turns out I got another trophy."
"Now I want to really chase the world number one ranking."
Webb, meanwhile, amassed a disappointing 75 to slip back.
Briton Laura Davies dropped a shot at the last to miss out on a top-10 finish.
But she was still the leading British player in a tie for 11th on 13 under after a closing 70.
Scotland's Catriona Matthew was a stroke behind after a 71.
