Doolan claims season opener
Doolan came from two strokes down to win
Doolan finished on 21-under for the tournament
Australia's Wendy Doolan started the LPGA season in style with victory in the Welch's/Fry's Championship in Tucson, Arizona.

She closed with a great 65, including seven birdies, to win by three from American veteran Betsy King and Canada's Lorie Kane.

The 34-year-old was two strokes behind Kane going into the final round but three birdies in her first four holes brought her into contention.

Californian rookie Christina Kim took the lead briefly with a couple of birdies while South Korea's Grace Park also challenged Doolan.

But when Park three-putted the short 17th for double bogey and Kim suddenly found the pressure too hot on her tour debut, Doolan could enjoy a victory stroll to her second LPGA success.

King shot 65 to climb through the field, while Kane had to settle for her share of second after a rather mediocre closing round of 70.

Laura Davies was the leading Briton, but two weekend rounds of level-par 70 left her in joint 11th place, 10 behind Doolan.

"This was more difficult than my first win because I knew what was happening this time.

"It's a terrific way to start the season and I couldn't be happier," said Doolan, whose last win came in the 2001 LPGA Champions Classic.
