Kane came from three shots back to take the lead |
Canada's Lorie Kane regained the lead at the Welch's-Fry's Championship with a five under par 65.
Kane, who held the lead after the first round, saw her advantage disappear on Friday when Meg Mallon shot a superb 60 to leave Kane three shots back.
But she regained her composure in Saturday's third round, taking advantage when Mallon bogeyed the 13th and 14th.
Kane took the lead with a four-foot birdie putt on the 15th and held on with pars at her last three holes for a total of 18 under.
Christina Kim celebrated her 19th birthday by shooting a 62 to claim sole position of second on 17 under.
Mallon and playing partner Wendy Doolan will begin the final round two shots off the pace.
The 1992 winner Brandie Burton is in a group of three players another shot back along with Grace Park and Young Kim.
Laura Davies failed to make headway on the leaders with a level-par 70 and is on 11 under for the tournament.
