Walker is preparing for his first full season in charge at York
York City striker Craig Farrell capped another impressive pre-season display from his side with two fine strikes against FA Cup semi-finalists Barnsley.
The Championship side needed a late equaliser to force a 2-2 draw.
City manager Colin Walker told BBC Radio York: "We're getting everything we want to out of these games."
Apart from niggling injuries to three players, Walker said: "I'm very, very happy with the way we are at the moment and the level of fitness is very good."
Richard Brodie, Steven Hogg, Daniel McBreen all missed the game with knocks.
Of his defence, Walker said: "We are conceding sloppy goals and it's something we're a little bit concerned about. Playing Leeds, Middlesbrough and Barnsley at home, knowing that all three teams were passing teams, was always going to be hard work."
Farrell's two second-half goals were the highlights and he was made man of the match.
The pre-season has been carefully planned. I hope that we've got it down to a fine art

"I think at times we played some really, really good football," added Walker. "Some of our play going forward was absolutely fantastic today and we are scoring some nice goals in front of the home crowd."
Hogg and McBreen will train on Wednesday and may feature on Friday at Harrogate Railway Athletic.
Walker is cagey, though, about committing Brodie too soon after Farrell aggravated an injury with an early return to the team last season.
Centre-back Darren Kelly played the full 90 minutes and will miss Friday's trip to Starbeck because he is getting married on Saturday. "That was his swansong as a single man," Walker said.
Trialist midfielder Lee Elam, formerly of Exeter, will not be joining the club. Walker explained: "At this moment in time I didn't think it was right to add anyone to our squad, we've worked with 21 from the beginning and I just think he'd be too far behind.
"The pre-season has been carefully planned. I hope, crossing fingers, that we've got it down to a fine art."
