West Brom manager Bryan Robson has dismissed reports that he wants to offload Nigerian striker Nwankwo Kanu. Kanu joined the Baggies on a free transfer from Arsenal last summer but has only scored two goals.
And with the arrival of Kevin Campbell from Everton, Kanu's future was in doubt with Robson reportedly ready to sell the 28-year-old.
But Robson said: "Is Kanu going anywhere? No. All the strikers are part of the squad and we need them all."
Robson believes he needs strength in depth in his forward line if he is to keep the club in the Premiership this season.
"Last weekend Kanu had a virus and Geoff Horsfield was feeling his hamstring and all of a sudden you are down to two strikers," Robson added.
"The last thing you need to have is a problem with strikers because if you don't score goals, you don't win games which is exactly what we've got to do."
Robson also paid tribute to Kanu for his willingness to dig in during the club's relegation dogfight.
He said: "Kanu has shown a lot of strength in his game which I didn't think he had at Arsenal. The one thing that he has shown mentally is that he is up for the fight.
"He is a flair player and sometimes people say he can be a bit lightweight in the way he protects the ball and he doesn't want a physical battle.
"But since I've been here, I think he has been up for a physical battle and mentally he has been tough and hasn't given in. He has kept going."
