Striker Jermaine Easter has returned early to Plymouth Argyle after his loan spell at Colchester was cut short.
The 26-year-old recently suffered a medial ligament injury and will be out of action for six to eight weeks.
"He's had a word with me and appreciated that the grass is not always greener," Argyle boss Paul Sturrock told BBC Radio Devon.
"He's lost his international place at this minute in time and he appreciates that football is his life."
"The opportunity he was given here he wants to get back again.
"He hasn't played to the standards he achieved last season and I still think there's things in his game he's going to have to work on.
"We've had a chat about it and he's adamant that he feels he can push himself into my team, so we'll give him the opportunity and see what happens."
