Lincoln City defender Adam Watts has been ruled out for the rest of the season after breaking his leg in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Grimsby Town.

The centre-half, 21, who suffered a broken left fibula in a second-half challenge at Blundell Park, will have an operation on the injury on Monday.

Imps manager Chris Sutton told BBC Lincolnshire: "It's a massive blow.

"With his attitude and performances, he's been a credit to himself and he's been good for us as a team."

Watts became Sutton's first signing at Sincil Bank when he joined on loan from Premier League Fulham in October, before making the move permanent in January.

Sutton added: "He's had injury problems before, so we hope the operation goes well and he gets back for the start of next season fresh and ready to go."
