Winger Courtney Pitt has rejoined Cambridge United after being released by previous boss Jimmy Quinn at the end of last season.

Pitt, 26, has signed a two-year deal following talks with new manager Gary Brabin and his assistant Paul Carden.

Brabin told the U's website: "He's a good player and I think he's been a bit of an enigma in the last few years.

"I've told him I'm looking to get more out of him and I think he's excited by that challenge."

Pitt initially arrived at the Abbey Stadium on a free transfer in September 2006 after being released by Boston.

He made 118 league appearances for the club, playing left-back, left wing and up front, scoring 11 league goals.

Quinn chose to release Pitt following defeat in the Blue Square Premier play-off final at the end of last season, but he subsequently left the club leaving the door open for the winger to return.

Pitt becomes manager Brabin's third signing as U's manager following striker Andy Parkinson and defender Anthony Tonkin, who both arrived on free transfers.
