Cambridge Rugby Club have signalled their intent for the season by making former Northampton flanker Darren Fox their latest signing.
Fox, 27, was an ever-present in the Saints side last season, but was released at the end of the campaign.
"It is definitely the biggest signing the club have ever made," coach James Shanahan told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
"Darren is an outstanding player, he has played in the Premiership for seven or eight years."
As with Karl Rudski, who signed for the club last month, Cambridge have secured Fox's career options away from rugby.
But Shanahan knows the club are fortunate to have attracted a player with so much top level experience.
"It shows the ambition of the club and the vision of where we want to be," he said.
Cambridge have assembled a whole new pack over the summer, adding strength and depth to the squad, and Shanahan is confident Fox will prove the final piece in the jigsaw.
