Beckham celebrates his goal |
Sven-Goran Eriksson hailed a "professional job" from his England team following their Euro 2004 qualifying win over minnows Liechtenstein in Vaduz.
England won 2-0 with goals in each half from Michael Owen and captain David Beckham.
Liechtenstein - ranked 151st in the world - gave England several anxious moments as Eriksson's side delivered an unconvincing display.
But Eriksson was satisfied as he looked ahead to the key qualifier against World Cup semi-finalists Turkey in Sunderland on Wednesday.
"We got the three points we wanted and we did a good professional job," said the Swede.
"There was maybe a lack of concentration at the end which gave them some chances, which we did not want to happen, but we got the victory and a secure win.
All we wanted to do was win and it didn't matter whether it was 2-0 or 5-0 |
"We tried to play the ball a little quicker at the start of the second half because that is how you make life difficult for the opposition."
Owen added: "Turkey was always the main game in our group - all we wanted to do was win and it didn't matter whether it was 2-0 or 5-0.
"We knew Turkey was the big one. We expected to win against Liechtenstein and it didn't make any difference how we won.
"The main thing was three points and now it's on to Turkey."
And Beckham said: "I don't think Turkey will be worrying about our game, but more about their team and their game."
