Algeria's JS Kabylie celebrate winning a trophy
Algeria's JS Kabylie could be celebrating another trophy soon
Algeria

Fans of JS Kabylie celebrated on the streets of Tizi-Ouzou after their side beat champions USMA 2-1 in a top-of-the-table clash.

Former Valencia midfielder Moussa Saib was influential, as Hamid Berguiga and Farouk Belkaid scored to give JSK a 2-0 halftime lead.

Mohamed Diallo pulled a goal back but JSK held on to open up a five-point lead over USMA with just three matches left in the season.

JSK could secure the championship next Monday.

Morocco

Raja Casablanca beat arch rivals Wydad Casablanca 2-0 to move into third place.

Mustapha Bidoudane - scoring his eighth goal of the season - and Youssouf Kone hit the target within two minutes of each other in the last quarter of the game.

Raja are seven points behind leaders FAR Rabat, who were held to a 1-1 draw at mid-table Mouloudia Oudja.

Olympique Meknes are second after a 1-1 draw at champions Hassania Agadir.

Egypt

Alexandria-based Al Ittihad moved up to third in the league, and a possible slot in continental club competition next season, after beating early front runners ENPPI 2-1.

Goals from Mohamed Fadl and Wakil Salama secured their win.

Ittihad are 15 points behind leaders Zamalek and four behind second-placed Al Ahly.

Tunisia

Etoile Sahel missed the chance to make up ground on runaway leaders Esperance after being held to a 1-1 draw at home by third-placed Club Africain.

Veteran midfielder Zoubeir Baya, who will retire at the end of the season, scored a late equaliser for Etoile Sahel, who are six points behind Esperance.

Club Africain remain one point behind Etoile in third place.

Cameroon

Cameroon's Cotonsport Garoua
Cameroon's Cotonsport Garoua are unbeaten this season

Champions Cotonsport Garoua kept up their unbeaten start to the season, easily disposing of visitors Kadji Academy 4-1 on Sunday.

Gaspard Aloma scored twice in the win, which gives Cotonsport a six-point lead over Fovu Baham and Sable Batie in their section of the league.

In pool B, unbeaten Racing Bafoussam, who won 3-1 at Renaissance Ngoumou, have a nine-point lead over second-placed Bamboutous Mbouda.

Nigeria

A 3-0 win for Dolphins FC over Niger Tornadoes stretched their lead to eight points over Iwuanyanwu Nationale, who were beaten 2-0 by Insurance of Benin.

Insurance moved into joint third place with Kano Pillars, who beat last season's runners-up Julius Berger 2-0.

Dolphins have 34 points with Iwuanyanwu Nationale on 26, with Insurance and Pillars a point further back.

Ivory Coast

Asec put the disappointment of early African Champions League elimination behind them with a 5-0 win over fifth-placed Satellite FC.

Seydou Kone notched a hat-trick and Alhassane Koivogui scored the opening two goals as ASEC kept the joint leadership with arch-rivals Africa Sports.

Both are unbeaten with 27 points from 11 matches after Africa Sports won 1-0 at Man FC.

Sabe Sports are third, following their 0-0 draw at Sewe Sport.

South Africa

South Africa's Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs are favourites to win the South African league

Leaders Kaizer Chiefs suffered their second defeat of the season when they lost the Soweto derby to Orlando Pirates in front of a crowd of 73,000 at Soccer City near Johannesburg.

Joseph Makhanya's early goal in the second half settled the encounter.

But Chiefs remain five points clear as they seek their first championship in more than a decade.

Only Ajax Cape Town, who did not play at the weekend, have any realistic hope of catching Chiefs, with both sides having five more matches to play.

Angola

Champions AS Aviacao lead Petro Atletico on goal difference at the top of the table after both teams won comfortably at the weekend.

Aviacao bounced back from African Champions League elimination with a 4-1 win at home over Academica Lobito in Luanda.

The win came despite their leading goal scorer being on the bench as a result of a dispute over his salary.

Petro, coached by Dutchman Jan Brouwer, won 3-0 at home to Academica Soyo.

Both sides have 21 points from their first 10 matches, one more than InterClube, who won 3-0 at Primeiro de Maio in Benguela.

Zambia

Champions Zanaco finally got their delayed season started with a 1-0 win at home to Kitwe United.

Zanaco missed the first two rounds because of commitments in African club competition but showed no ill effects, as defender Ronny Musakanya scored their winner.

Kabwe Warriors, whose coach Arnold Mtonga was not allowed to sit on the bench - because he does not have a required coaching badge - are the frontrunners after a 3-0 win over Nkwazi.
