Southampton faced Arsenal again in their final game of the 2002-03 season: the FA Cup final.

In their first appearance in the showpiece game since 1976, Southampton - managed by Gordon Strachan - ultimately lost 1-0 to the Gunners courtesy of Robert Pires' goal.

It was still a successful season for the Saints though as they finished eighth in the table and qualified for the Uefa Cup.

BBC Radio Solent's Tony Husband: "This really was a false dawn for Southampton. It's bizarre - the match seemed to signal so much hope, but everything since then has gone backwards."
