England were indebted to Claire Taylor's superb century as they beat Australia by four wickets in the fourth one-day international at Taunton.

Taylor made 116 from just 133 balls, with Jenny Gunn (32) and Laura Newton (31) also contributing, as England successfully chased Australia's total.

Lisa Keightley and Karen Rolton helped Australia to 215-5, but England reached 216-6 with nine balls to spare.

England's win levels the series at 2-2 with one match to play.

Keightley's impressive 78 had put Australia in a strong position after they won the toss and decided to bat on a good wicket.

Rolton put on 105 for the third wicket with Keightley before falling for 54.

England's Jenny Gunn and Clare Connor ended with two wickets each, while Charlotte Edwards took 1-34.

Edwards said England's confidence had been growing since their breakthrough in the Ashes.

"It's just brilliant at the moment and it's been another great day," she told the ECB website.

"Whatever situation we get into, we feel like we're going to get ourselves out of it. The confidence we're playing with is great and we just want to keep that continuing.

"We knew once we got the win at Stratford that we could go onto better things and we have.

"They got off to a flyer today but we came back.

"Claire Taylor batted amazingly and everyone contributed to get ourselves over the line.

"It's been a real team effort this summer, everyone is doing something with the ball and with the bat there have been some great partnerships.

"We're getting a lot of inspiration from the men and watching how they played the other day."
