Shelley Nitschke produced the best figures by an Australian in a women's one-day international as they beat England by 65 runs at Kidderminster.

The left-arm spinner took 7-24 as England were bowled out for 128.

Claire Taylor (48) and Laura Newton (45) shared a stand of 79 but no-one else reached double figures as the last six wickets went down for just 19 runs.

Isa Guha earlier took 3-24 to restrict Australia to 193-8 but they now lead 2-0 in the five-match series.

The result was a big disappointment for England, whose lower order was swept away for the second successive match.

Having recovered from the early loss of Charlotte Edwards for one, they were well placed at 80-1 when Claire Taylor was caught behind off Julie Hayes just two short of a half century.

Nitschke then made a decisive contribution, dismissing Clare Connor and in-form Arran Thomspon for ducks and when she bowled Newton to leave England on 109-5 the game was over as a contest.

Only two women - England's Jo Chamberlain in 1991 and Sajinda Shah of Pakistan two years ago - had previously taken seven wickets in a one-day international.

But Nitschke equalled them when she claimed the final wicket as youngster Jo Watts was stumped by Julia Price with two balls left in the 39th over.

Pretty much everything had gone according to plan for England earlier in the day after Connor won the toss and put the World Cup holders in.

Guha bowled an excellent new-ball spell, conceding only 14 from seven overs, and Connor dismissed Belinda Clark and Lisa Shalekar, as well as taking a catch to remove the dangerous Karen Rolton.

Lisa Keightley (58) and Kate Blackwell (50) stabilised Australia's innings, but Guha returned to claim deserved reward for her efforts and was well supported by keeper Taylor, who claimed three stumpings and a catch.
