New Zealand - Dark Horse
Age 26 ODI debut: v Zimbabwe, January 2001
James Franklin established himself in the New Zealand team on their tour of England in 2004.
The left-arm seamer had been playing club cricket in Lancashire and was called into the squad after another injury to Shane Bond, seizing his chance with a six-wicket Test haul and 5-42 in a ODI.
Playing despite a persistent knee injury during the home series with Sri Lanka, he had moderate success with the ball, but hit his highest international score to date, an unbeaten 45 from 46 balls.
