Trescothick missed the Champions Trophy in India with a "stress-related illness" and told BBC cricket correspondent Jonathan Agnew that he had "fallen out of love" with the sport.
The opening batsman struggled last season after coming home early from the tour of India and revealed he had to take a breather to recharge his batteries.
Now fully refreshed, he cannot wait to take on Australia after impressing against them when England triumphed 2-1 in 2005.
"I'm itching to get going. When you've have had a rest it rekindles the buzz you've longed for all your career," he told Aggers.
