WEST INDIES INNINGS

1403 - WICKET - Collymore c Bell b Panesar 0, WI 394 all out - ENGLAND WIN MATCH BY 60 RUNS AND CLINCH SERIES:
Wicket falls
What a catch from Ian Bell! Collymore smashes a Monty leg-stump tweaker onto his pad and seemingly past Bell at at least 600 miles an hour, only for the diminutive short-leg to fling himself sideways at 601mph and cling on. England have won the match and the series, and Monty finishes with 10 wickets in the game - the first England spinner to do that in 10 years. 6-137 off 51.5 overs for him in this innings, with Chanderpaul left high and dry on 116.

Phew.

From Al Qualtrough, TMS inbox: "Whoever fed Harmie this lunchtime - get him a central contract."

1359 - WI 391-9: Chanders can smell that the end is near, and has started to throw his blade at anything that moves. Corey Collymore is left on strike by a hoick to fine leg, and looks as if he'd rather be dancing the conga with a crocodile than facing the rampaging Harmison. He waves uncertainly at a snorter outside off before diving out of the way of another nose-hair trimmer.

1349 - WICKET - Edwards c Bell b Harmison 0, WI 385-9:
Wicket falls
Kaboom-a-boom-a-bang! Fidel gets the repeat treatment, throwing himself out of the way of a head-destroyer and edging it high to a leaping Bell at gully. In the blink of an eye, England are on the brink. Worried? Who was worried?

1347 - WICKET - Taylor c Cook b Harmison 11, WI 385-8:
Wicket falls
Kaboom! Harmie strikes with his very first ball, sizzling one straight at Taylor's nostrils and inducing a desperate glove-fend straight into Cook's hands at short leg. Vicious ball, but England don't care - they're back in front. That's Harmie's 200th Test wicket too, in his 53rd match.

1342 - WI 383-7: Here we go then - and it's a great first over for the Windies. Monty drops short and Chanders creams him easily of the back foot for three through cover. Taylor nibbles a single of his own, and Monts is then ticked off by Umpire Aleem for appealing like a panicking spinster. Or something like that.

From Ian Ruddleston, TMS inbox: "You need to change the summary section from "series-clinching" to "buttocks-clenching".

1301 - WI 379-7: That's lunch - Harmison produces a devilish last over, but Taylor hangs on. This is beautifully poised, even if we won't be able to stomach much tucker with the nerves clanging as they are. Just to repeat, 76 runs needed by the Windies for a staggering victory; three wickets needed by England to win the series. Chanders is 104 not out; Monty on 5-126. See you for the denouement in 40 minutes...

1258 - WI 379-7: Monty's growing weary - he drops down leg, and Taylor sweeps him chunkily for four behind square. 76 runs needed - deep breaths all round the commentary box.

1254 - WI 374-7: Change of attack from Michael Vaughan - Siders is told to take a blow, and Harmuci comes in for a couple before lunch. He's uncharacteristically on the money, keeping it lively just outside off, and Taylor stays well out of the way.

From Stuart in Widnes, TMS inbox: "Surely we won't be having a repeat of Edgbaston 2005?"

1251 - WI 373-7: Monty's a little hot under the collar - he's screaming appeals with eyes so wide it's slightly unnerving. Chanders backs away to leg and places him nicely through cover for couple after Taylor does the same to the other side. we're down to 82 needed, and fingernails are disappearing into mouths on the Windies balcony.

1246 - WI 366-7:
He's reached 100
There it is - Chanderpaul gloves a steepler into the ground and scurries through for the single - that's his century, off 233 balls, and a super rearguard innings. Off comes the lid, and he points his blade towards his cheering team-mates on the packed Windies balcony.

1242 - WI 366-7: Marathon Monty toils away in his 13th over of the day, and his 47th of the innings. Taylor jabs down late on a straight one and fights the temptation to thrash away madly in favour of seeing his partner through to his ton. 89 runs needed now - at what point will you start to get a touch anxious?

1233 - WI 365-7: Runs off Siders as he strays just a fraction - Taylor flicks at one wobbling down leg and gets four leg byes past the diving Prior, before Chanders pops a single away to move to 98. He then takes a leg bye off the final ball but looks gutted - that ball was the one he could have flipped away for his ton...

1233 - WI 358-7: Huge loop from Monts, an edge from Taylor - but Colly at slip can't hang on. Tough chance, but Monty sinks to his knee and pinches the bridge of his nose like a man suffering from severe sinus problems. The batsmen take a single, and then Chanders leans back to a shorter one and cuts delightfully for four to move to 97.

1228 - WI 353-7: No luck at all for Siders, who's got Taylor in all sorts of bother but just can't nibble an edge. Oohs and aahhhs all round from the slips and keeper.

From Les Berry, TMS inbox: "Could we have one of the severed heads to raffle and raise money for my local club - Southgate Compton CC?"

1225 - WI 352-7: Lord alive - Monty's getting so much turn from the rough outside Chanders' off stump that the ball's virtually coming back to him. One whistles just over the bails having landed two feet outside off, and another leaps onto the gloves and pings past Cook's groping digits at short midwicket.

1222 - WI 350-7: Siders continues in his groove, conceding a mere two byes through the slips. Chanders is marooned.

1218 - WI 348-7: Monty maiden to Taylor, who's staring at the ball with the confidence of a man eyeing a sleeping snake.

1213 - WI 348-7: Good again from Siders, starting them off at Chanderpaul's pads and then whistling it away towards first slip. Chanders is on to 91, and with the compadres he has left you fear it's all down to him now. 107 needed.

1208 - WICKET - Sammy c and b Panesar 25, WI 348-7:
Wicket falls
Great snag from Monty - Sammy smashes a full one straight back at him, and Monty hangs on, much to his own disbelief. He's swamped by whooping team-mates before he can canter off with arms flapping like a distressed pigeon. Five wickets in the innings for Panesar, the fifth time he's done that in a Test.

1205 - WI 344-6: Sammy looks to have recovered a little from his injury - he's still limping, but in a Cristiano Ronaldo way rather than Long John Silver. Note for mobile users - we've had all sorts of technical woe today, but hopefully you'll now be getting updates all the way through. The severed heads of six IT Support staff are now impaled on pikes on the battlements of TV Centre.

1158 - WI 342-6: Ryan Sidebottom into the attack, hair blowing in the breeze like Brian May on stage at Live Aid. His first ball is an official beaut, landing on middle and off and diving away at the last minute. TECHNICAL UPDATE: I'm told we could be back in business with this version of the live commentary. We'll see how we get on - one million thanks for your patience....

1153 - WI 342-6: Hello - there's Freddie on the England balcony, clad in a organic salmon-pink polo shirt and clutching a mug of coffee. Peter Moores is bending his ear about something, and Fred is nodding with a look of great seriousness on his face.

1149 - WI 341-6: Brief break for beverages as Sammy leans back to cut Mont square for four, only to pull up clutching his right hamstring. Uh-oh. On comes the physio - nervous times for the Windies.

1144 - WI 337-6: Harmison continues round the wicket, tucking Chanderpaul up with those angled lifters. Chander stays as calm as it's possible to be when you're two feet off the ground with a hard leather ball heading for your chest at 85mph.

1140 - WI 335-6: Monty's getting the ball to spit more often than a moody teenager at a bus-stop. Chanderpaul keeps his gloves out of the way and shoves his pad down the track like a roadblock.

1137 - WI 333-6: Harmison goes round the wicket, and angles the ball across Sammy's chest and nose. Unpleasant business. 122 more runs needed by the Windies, but the pressure's on.

1133 - WI 331-6: Mont gives it some loop, and Sammy pops him elegantly back over his head for a lovely four. Mont then drops one a fraction shorter, and the ball pings off the pitch like a flea off a trampoline and sails clean over the batsman's head. Umpire Aleem gives Monty a look and tells him that's his one bouncer for the over. Honestly.

1129 - WI 324-6: Sammy blazes at a lifter from Harmison and looks back to see it flying over fourth-ish slip for another four. He then smashes a drive back at the bowler, who waves a foot at the ball and winces as it smashes into his lanky ankle.

1124 - WI 318-6: Maiden from Mont. Prior shouts, "Get on it!" after every delivery, much like Bobby Byrd working the crowd at a James Brown gig circa 1969.

1121 - WI 318-6: Much better from Harmie - decent pace, acceptable direction and even a sniff of menace. Sammy aims a shoulder-dislocator of a drive at a full one and misses by a mile.

1119 - WI 317-6: Incredible chirp from Prior behind the stumps this morno - even the sight of the ball thumping the middle of the bat and going straight into the ground is greeted with a frenzied shout of "CATCH IIITTTT!" Tightish from Monts.

1115 - WI 316-6: Hmmm. Zero threat from Harmie, which probably means he'll pick up a wicket with his very next ball after this sentence. New batsman Sammy loosens his shoulder with a flamboyant cut for four high over point.

1108 - WICKET - Ramdin c Collingwood b Panesar 34, WI 311-6: Monty strikes - the ball spits and jumps, flicks the shoulder of Ramdin's blade and flies into a yelping Colly's hands at slip. Big breakthrough for England, hammer blow for the Windies - 144 runs still needed and only four wickets to go...

1107 - WI 310-5: Harmo bounding in with the usual uncertain squint on his chops, and his first ball is a lolloping wide down leg. Chanders jabs a short one away for a single before Ramdin hacks a wide one happily over gully for another four.

1102: Monty takes the first over, and Ramdin thumps a short one through point for an aerial four. Almost no-one on the ground, but the sun is blazing down from a cloudless sky.

Right - Here's the good news: we're all set for an absolute thriller of a Monday, with the Test delightfully poised. The less good news: the entire BBC website is wracked with sickening technical difficulties which mean that absolutely nothing is working except 606. So I'm going to attempt to file live copy here.

1050: Hold fire on the email front for a while, too - there's a danger it might melt the entire system. We've sent a squad of BBC Sport goons round to the IT Support office to get them to sort this shambles out, but I'd appreciate it if you could keep fingers crossed. Or get over to TV Centre in west London with a spanner sharpish.

1028: And now for the weather forecast: it's set to be clear all day at Old Trafford. So even if I'm struggling to tell you about what's going on on the pitch, the cricket will at least be taking place. In terms of weather elsewhere in the country, it'll be cool in Poole, bright on the Isle of Wight and dry in Rye. But if you're going to Lissingdown, you're advised to take your umbrella.
