England got off to the perfect start after winning the toss, as Edwards dominated a 78-run partnership for the first wicket with Laura Newton (16).
Both openers perished in quick succession, but Taylor was soon in her stride, cracking eight boundaries in her 76-ball innings.
Cri-Zelda Brits gave South Africa some hope by removing Taylor, England skipper Clare Connor and Arran Brindle to finish with figures of 3-43.
But Greenway kept the momentum going for England with her breezy 41.
Brits (20) and Daleen Terblanche (25) gave South Africa a platform with an opening stand of 38, but it was not long before England's bowlers got in amongst them.
Birch accounted for South Africa captain Alison Hodgkinson (10) and Cindy Eksteen (0) with her off-breaks.
When Greenway followed up her good batting by running out Terblanche, the home side had lost three wickets with the score on 58.
South Africa gave up the run chase and batted out the final overs after Birch took her third wicket, ending Alicia Smith's top scoring innings of 38.
The fifth and final match of the series will take place on Monday.
