Pakistan eased to victory by six wickets in the second one-day international against New Zealand.

The tourists reached their raget of 236 in 47 overs to square the series 1-1 with a tremendous batting display.

Yousuf Youhana finished on 88 not out, while Imran Farhat made 87 before falling to Daniel Vettori.

Brendon McCullum top-scored for the Kiwis with an unbeaten 56 and Jacob Oram weighed in with 54 while Mohammad Sami took 3-52.

Pakistan put New Zealand into bat after winning the toss, and got off to a great start when opener Craig Cumming fell to Sami for a duck.

The middle order put ina weak showing despite Stephen Fleming's contribution of 43 and the home side were in serious trouble when the scoreboard read 112-6.

New Zealand refused to give up hope and Oram and McCullum put on 91 for the seventh wicket at a healthy rate to set a target that should have posed problems for Pakistan given the slow nature of the wicket.

But despite the early loss of Yasir Hameed, they were never troubled with Farhat and Youhana adding 143 for the third wicket.

None of the Black Caps' bowlers made much of an impression.

Afterwards, Fleming said: "We didn't get key partnerships going and the scoreboard reflects it.

"The pitch just held fractionally which made it hard work, but that aside we just lost wickets at key times.

Pakistan coach Javed Miandad said: "In this country the first hour always helps the fast bowlers.

"The bowlers contained the New Zealand batsmen very well and the team has been doing very well chasing runs."

The victory came after Pakistan had suffered a four-wicket defeat in the first match in Auckland.
