Australia recorded their first win over India in the tri-nations tournament with a comfortable victory in Bombay.

India were skittled out for 209 in the 47th over to lose by 77 runs.

Damien Martyn hit his fifth one-day century to help Australia post a competitive 286-8 on a slow pitch.

Sachin Tendulkar smashed 68 on his home ground but Nathan Bracken (4-29) and Michael Clarke (4-42) did the damage as Australia notched up their second win.

Martyn rescued a poor batting effort by Australia after they had won the toss and elected to bat.

They got off to the worst possible start when Matthew Hayden was out for a first-ball duck.

Australia then slumped to 93-5 before Martyn and Andrew Symonds (48) steadied the ship.

After Hayden was out, Adam Gilchrist was next to go after smashing 41 off 30 balls.

Captain Ricky Ponting made 31 and Michael Bevan weighed in with a useful 42.
