Shoaib: First 10-wicket haul in Tests

Mohammad Hafeez scored his maiden Test century as Pakistan secured an unassailable two-nil lead in the three-match series.

Opener Hafeez, who debuted in the first Test, scored 102 not out to steer the hosts to a comprehensive nine-wicket victory.

Pakistan were set just 163 for win after Bangladesh capitulated from an overnight 52-4, with Shoaib Akhtar taking 10 wickets for the match.

Shoaib, who claimed 6-49 in the first innings, struck first when trapping Rajin Saleh lbw for six.

Two balls later, keeper Khaled Mashud fell in identical fashion - and for the second time in the match removed for a duck - as Shoaib celebrated his first 10-wicket match haul in Tests.

The visitors were 65-7 when skipper Khaled Mahmud fell to spinner Danish Kaneria to become the 10th lbw victim of the match.

Hat-trick hero Alok Kapali soon followed to Shabbir Ahmed for 16, and the rout was complete when Umar Gul bowled Mashrafe Mortaza and Alamgir Kabir to finish off the tail.

Hafeez and Taufeeq Umar put Pakistan on the path to victory with an opening stand of 140.

Taufeeq fell to Mahmud for 43 but Hafeez stayed to the end, striking 11 fours and a six in his 144-ball unbeaten knock.

It was a deflating end for Bangladesh, who were competitive for much of the match but are still winless after 23 Tests.

The third and final match begins in Multan on Wednesday.
