Youhana keeps cool head
Fourth ODI, Rawalpindi: Pakistan 226-5 (49.5 overs) beat Bangladesh 222-8 (50 overs) by five wickets

Pakistan preserved their hopes of a Test and one-day series clean sweep by scraping home with one ball to spare.

Yousuf Youhana was the match-winner for the home side, hitting the penultimate delivery from Tapash Baisya for four over mid-wicket to finish on 94 not out.

It was the only major innings of a match which put Pakistan
4-0 up in the series, which ends in Karachi on Sunday.

Bangladesh have now lost 41 out of 43 one-day games since beating Pakistan during the 1999 World Cup - the other two finishing in no results.

The tourists won the toss and all their main batsmen - with the exception of makeshift opener Khaled Mashud - made useful contributions without anyone being able to dominate the bowling.

Youngster Rajin Saleh top scored with 47, but it took him over two hours and his innings contained only a single four.

Paceman Mohammad Sami marked his comeback to the Pakistan team following injury with 2-41, but he was overshadowed by new ball partner Umar Gul, who sent down nine overs for figures of 2-29.

Bangladesh's total was respectable rather than daunting, but the home side made a positive start to their reply, reaching 50 in the 10th over.

But they lost two wickets in the process as Baisya removed Mohammad Hafeez for nine and then had Imran Nazir caught for 28.

Younis Khan helped Youhana add 85 before he was lbw to spinner Mohammad Rafique for 37 and when Inzamam-ul-Haq (18) went for a wild pull shot and top edged a catch of Mashrafe bin Mortaza, Bangladesh had a glimmer of a chance.

Youhana kept his head under the lights, however, and steered Pakistan towards their target which came down to 18 from the final three overs.

Alok Kapali ran out Shoaib Malik for 17 at the start of the 17th, but with seven needed off the last over, Youhana completed the win without undue fuss.

Pakistan: Inzamam-ul-Haq (captain), Mohammad Hafeez, Imran Nazir, Yousuf Youhana, Younis Khan, Shoaib Malik, Abdul Razzaq, Kamran Akmal, Junaid Zia, Umar Gul, Mohammad Sami.

Bangladesh: Khaled Mahmud (captain), Habibul Bashar, Tushar Imran, Rajin Saleh, Alok Kapali, Mohammad Rafique, Khaled Mashud, Mashrafe Mortaza, Hannan Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahman, Tapash Baisya.
