If Team GB do get anything out of this match, and it's a big if, they will consider themselves very lucky because they are not playing very well at all, particularly in the middle.

The US have missed plenty and given Britain plenty of opportunities which they haven't taken.

After the heavy snow of the past couple of days in Livigno, we have bright sunshine today.

But there’s a lot of work going on to clear it and I spotted this truck with a load of the white stuff trundling through the town.

The only road between Livigno and Bormio, the Passo del Foscagno will be closed for a good hour this afternoon for “controlled avalanche mitigation”.

The forecast is for more snow on Thursday and Friday so organisers will have their work cut out to keep the Olympic schedule as it currently is.

Great Brtiain need to get their two points in the eighth end. They have had chances to generate two, they got it in the sixth end, which came from a corner guard and Rebecca Morrison playing some really good shots at the end.

Eve Muirhead led Great Britain's women's curling team to gold in Beijing four years ago.

Now retired, she's watching on as chef de mission - heading up Team GB in Italy - and her face tells you that it's not looking great on the rink at the moment.

Not a good end for Team GB and I'm not sure they can come back from this now.

For once, Rebecca Morrison couldn't rescue her team and the US draw in for three points that could well prove decisive with just three ends left of this must-win game.

Good news for Team GB! Andrew Musgrave and James Clugnet have squeezed into the finals for the men's team sprint.

With only the top 15 teams going through, the British duo qualified in 13th - 9.77 seconds behind leaders the United States.

The American team also finished a couple of seconds ahead of cross-country's golden boy Johannes Hosflot Klaebo and his Norwegian team-mate Einar Hedegart.

The finals start at 11:15 GMT.

The first round of jumps in qualifying are done and dusted, which means the first six finalists are confirmed. Xu Mengtao is among them, one of three Chinese athletes to progress at the earliest opportunity...

    2. Danielle Scott (Australia) - 99.59
    3. Shao Qi (China) - 90.22

It was an iconic, vintage Mikaela Shiffrin run.

That's all she needs to do. She doesn't need to try and be her best today because her best is already dominant.

    Normal Shiffrin, absolutely ruling supreme.

    Alpine skiing - women's slalom

We're almost a third of the way through the first run in the women's slalom and Mikaela Shiffrin's time of 47.13 seconds has not been challenged by the top competitors

The two-time Olympic champion was 0.82 seconds faster than Germany's Lena Duerr in second place.

That means Shiffrin will be the last skier to go in the second run, which starts at 12:30 GMT, and she'll know exactly what she has to do to win gold.

Maybe the GB team need to swerve the mixed curling. Neither unit has performed, the men well below par and Bruce Mouat, probably the best player in the world, has looked a shadow of himself after failing to medal after dominating qualifying with Jennifer Dodds

At least one Chinese athlete has reached the podium in this freeski discipline in six of the eight times it has reached an Olympic roster, but only one has ever won gold.

    Step forward Xu Mengtao.

The veteran made her World Cup debut in 2006 and she is showing no signs of slowing down.

Australia's Danielle Scott is chasing "unfinished business" at her fourth Winter Games having never won an Olympic medal despite being a two-time world cup champion and double silver medallist at world championships.

Both have already gone in Qualification 1 but Canada's Marion Thanault currently leads the way with a big score of 108.61, Scott is second on 99.59 and those two are already guaranteed a place in the final.

Xu is fifth as things stands, on 89.29, and with four athletes still to go, must wait to discover if she'll go straight through or face another jump.

  15. How does aerials qualification work?published at 09:34 GMT

    Freestyle Skiing - Women's Aerials

There's some freestyle skiing taking place now and it's qualification for the women's aerials.

Here's a quick overview of how it works.

The top six-ranked skiers after a single round of jumps progress directly to the final.

The remaining athletes jump for a second time but are not allowed to repeat the same tricks. The best six (using their top score from the two runs) also qualify for the final.

It's a steal for the USA, but team GB will have the hammer in the sixth, so there is some consolation there.

A close, close match so far with Rebecca Morrison, in particular, playing well.

They are still in this and it's all to play for in the second half.

Nine of France's 16 medals at these Winter Olympics have come in the biathlon events, including four of their five golds.

One of those came in the men's 4 x 7.5km relay on Tuesday, when former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was on hand to ring the bell to signify the competitors' final lap.

It seems Sweden are the team to beat in the women's team sprint.

Jonna Sundling and Maja Dahlqvsist absolutely smashed it, finishing 14.92 seconds before Finland in second. They'll be hoping to upgrade their silver from Beijing four years ago.

Qualification for the men's event has just began and Team GB's Andrew Musgrave and James Clugnet will be hoping to make it through to today's final as one of the fastest 15 teams.

We'll keep you updated on their progress.
