Ben Earl's correct. England haven't won in Scotland since 2020.

In fact, England have only won two of their past eight meetings with their Calcutta Cup opponents (six five wins and one draw)

The pair face off in Edinburgh next Saturday.

  2. 'We're starting to see an England team that has a signature performance'published at 19:46 GMT

    England Rugby

England number eight Ben Earl speaking to S4C: "We thought if we put our best stuff out there the result would take care of itself. I think the scoreline flattered us. In the second half I thought Wales were a lot better and they played the game they wanted to play.

"We were very good in the first half and it meant the result was taken care of with half an hour to play.

"I think we're starting to see an England team that has a signature performance, has an identity, and for the most part we saw that today.

"I don't think we've won at Murrayfield since 2020, they're a bit of a bogey-team. Last year against Scotland it came down to last kick of the game, but I feel like we've improved since that week, but they're a good team and will be firing if they lost today. I'm looking forward to it."

  3. 'I am enjoying playing centre'published at 19:43 GMT

    FT: England 48-7 Wales

    England Rugby

England's Tommy Freeman speaking to BBC 5 Live: "The boys did well and there is loads to work on. We will tighten things up and go next week.

"I think there were a few connection issues still and we could have got the ball more in the corner, we did that better in the second half. It's about that communication and how we get messages across.

"It's professional rugby, it is hard work and it is a physical game, the lungs and legs start kicking in. You have to have mentality stay in it."

On scoring a try: "It's brilliant getting over the line, in front of these guys. I just focus on doing my thing and hopefully there are many more to come.

"I am enjoying playing centre, hopefully I can do it in weeks to come."

    Great question, Richard!

In 2016, Scotland lost to England and Wales and Ireland drew with each other on the opening weekend.

Not quite what you've asked for, but that was the last time none of those three won after round one.

England playing freely. Ford in charge. At least 3 more tries left out there. Onwards 👏

  8. 'They were tap-ins, but a hat-trick is a hat-trick'published at 19:33 GMT

    FT: England 48-7 Wales

    England Rugby

England's hat-trick hero Henry Arundell speaking to ITV One: "It's special playing for England always, to beat Wales at home is amazing."

    On his tries: "They were tap-ins, but a hat-trick is a hat-trick.

"I'm happy, a win to start off is great for the campaign. There's a bit of frustration we left points out there. It's exciting, if we want to be the best team in the world we've got to have high expectations

"You've got to have that hunger in you if you want to be a winger. There's a bit of ego in you to want to get those tries.

"There's stuff in my game I'm still trying to work on, especially my defensive side. It's good, you want to be an all-round player if you want to be the best team in the world.

"We speak a lot about being adaptable. You can die by your sword with one game plan. Kick variety, winning the ball back, shifting it to the corner, that puts teams under serious pressure."

  10. 'We wanted to set the story' for the tournamentpublished at 19:26 GMT

    FT: England 48-7 Wales

    England Rugby

England's captain Jamie George speaking to ITV: "I feel a huge amount of pride, we had a good couple of weeks build-up, we focused on ourselves today and we were the team we wanted to be.

"It's always interesting the first game of a tournament, you want to go out and set the story. We are starting from new and we want to show what we are about. We want to push and get better at that.

"You learn from what you did well and what you didn't do well. We gave a lot of penalties away, so there is plenty to learn."

  11. 'I am loving my rugby'published at 19:22 GMT

    FT: England 48-7 Wales

    England Rugby

England's fly-half and man of the match George Ford speaking to BBC's 5 Live: "I am loving my rugby and enjoying doing my job for the team. The environment, the squad, team and coaches, I am loving it at the moment."

I thought Wales played quite well in patches — better than Scotland anyway. I think England are formidable however and only France will beat them.

Lots of harsh criticism for Wales and I think they'd be the first to hold hands up. But let's take a beat and recognise that these boys gave absolutely everything today and we should be proud of that desire. This is a very decent England side going places.

  14. 'We watched the France game and took a lot from it'published at 19:14 GMT

    FT: England 48-7 Wales

    England Rugby

More from England fly-half and man of the match George Ford speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "The start of a Test match is massive and important. We had a good idea it was going to be wet. The reason why we kicked wide was because we got in good field positions and we could give the ball to Henry Arundell. It's not just a kicking plan, it's to win territory. We got the balance right today.

"The endeavour, the intent and the ability to move the ball even though it was wet is there.

"We wanted to start the tournament with a good result and performance. We watched the France game and took a lot from it. We look to improve again this week."

  15. 'We left a few things out there' - Fordpublished at 19:10 GMT

    FT: England 48-7 Wales

    England Rugby

England's fly-half and man of the match George Ford speaking to BBC's 5 Live: "It was good to start the competition like that. I thought by large our performance was good, there is still a tinge of frustration in some aspects because we think there is more in us, but that is positive because most of it is good.

"We left a few things out there and a few lapses of concentration in the game.

"The scoreboard is where we want to be different. We recognise that and that is where we learn from that. We don't know the situation we will be in a game, but if we are up the concentration is down."

Men against boys! But the problems are much deeper in Wales than an international match! There is not enough words to explain how the personel and structure need changing! It's so so sad.

    Bill

How bad must England be to only score 48 against 13 men😆 Just joking. Disgraceful discipline by Wales.

    Mark

Simply dreadful from Wales. The selection was wrong.Plumtree and Thomas and Mee and Beard and Lake are simply not good enough for international Rugby. If they are the best we have got we are doomed. Well played England.

Wales were their own worst enemy and England didn't get out of 2nd gear. That first try sums the game up. Wales had a line out in the England 22 and 3 pens later Arundell scores in the corner. No graft needed! Some of their backs still had white shirts!

We lacked physicality, we lacked ideas and you are not going to win an international game with that many yellow cards. There will be some tough conversations going into France next week.
