Redruth intensity during Shelford win pleases boss Steve Larkins

Redruth boss Steve Larkins says he was pleased with his side's ruthless edge in their 41-5 win over Shelford.

The Reds went eighth in National Two South as they ran in seven tries, including three for Robin Wedlake, against the second-from-bottom side.

"We came out with an intensity in that first half and put away some really good tries," Larkins told BBC Cornwall.

"Every time we got an opportunity we seemed to either create chances or score the tries," he added.

It is the first time since the opening two weeks of the season that Redruth have won back-to-back matches, having beaten fifth-placed Worthing at home last week.

"Generally I was pretty pleased with the entire game," Larkins said.

"We looked pretty sound in defence and in attack - we looked a lot different than we have in previous weeks.

"We looked at these games, even when the fixtures first came out, and these back-to-back matches were very important for us.

"We said we wanted nine or 10 points out of them and for us to get nine points is good - we're happy with that.

"Hopefully we can win away at Dings as well and get into that middle of the table and top of the table area rather than loitering near the bottom."
