Cardiff Devils slipped to third place in the Elite League after a winless weekend ended with a shootout loss at Nottingham Panthers.

Devils trailed 2-0 going into the final period with Matt Alfaro and Matthew Marcinew on target for Panthers.

But late goals from Ryan Barrow and Kohen Olischefski gave the visitors hope and forced overtime, during which neither side could convert their chances.

Panthers then dominated the shootout, with Devils missing all three attempts at goal, while Panthers converted all four.

Devils' defeat follows their 2-1 loss at home to Elite League leaders Belfast Giants on Friday.

They are now just one point ahead of fourth-placed Panthers in the standings.
