    Scunthorpe United midfielder Joe Rowley has signed a two-year contract extension to remain with the National League club.

    The 26-year-old joined the Iron on a two-year deal in 2024 after leaving AFC Fylde and helped them win promotion to the fifth tier.

    He has made 44 appearances in all competitions this term and will remain with the club until the end of 2027-28.

    Carlisle United midfielder Alex Gilliead has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

    The 30-year-old, who is on a season-long loan from Shrewsbury, suffered the injury in Monday's 2-2 draw with Morecambe.

    The Cumbrians are third in the National League and guaranteed a play-off place.
