Tranmere suffered late heartbreak in their bid to move clear of the League Two relegation places as Swindon snatched a 1-0 victory at Prenton Park thanks to a stoppage-time winner from substitute Junior Hoilett.
The result extends Rovers' winless run to nine matches, while the Robins are now three points outside the automatic promotion spots.
Swindon threatened early, with Marko Marosi saving well from Will Wright inside five minutes, while Sol Solomon was denied by Connor Ripley at the other end.
The visitors went close again on the half-hour as Darren Oldaker's long-range effort flew just over with Marosi at full stretch.
Tranmere's best chance came just before the break but Charlie Whitaker's effort rolled narrowly wide.
After the interval, Oldaker again tested Marosi, who also denied Fletcher Holman and Jamie Knight-Lebel as Town pushed forward.
Just as it looked like the points would be shared, substitute Hoilett struck in stoppage time to seal victory for the visitors.
