Bradford scored a late winner to claim victory over nine-man Wigan at Valley Parade.

Joe Wright headed home Max Power's corner after the visitors had both Jensen Weir and Matt Smith sent off for two yellow cards apiece.

After a tight first half hour, Raphael Borges Rodrigues fired over the bar for Wigan before Bradford threatened, with Jenson Metcalfe's long-range shot pushed round the post by Sam Tickle.

The Bantams then took the lead in the 45th minute when Ibou Touray headed Sam Walker's long free-kick into the path of former Wigan forward Stephen Humphrys to steer an angled drive inside the post.

Wigan equalised after 64 minutes when Christian Saydee created a gap for on-loan Plymouth midfielder Callum Wright to convert from close range.

However, Wigan went down to 10 men six minutes later after Weir was shown his second yellow card for a foul on Touray.

Smith then became the second Wigan player to be sent off for a second booking after he fouled Metcalfe, and Bradford cashed in on their extra numbers with defender Wright's 89th-minute winner.
