Burnley manager Scott Parker on what positives he sees at the moment, after Saturday's defeat to relegation rivals West Ham left the Clarets 11 points from safety and prompted boos from the home crowd and chants for his sacking: "It's a tough question for me that sits in this position at this present moment in time where anything I say that is positive is only going to add more fire to this situation.

"That is the reality. Anything I say regarding us as a group, the positive results of coming out with three draws against big teams, the positive results at the beginning of the season where we were hugely competitive, really is something that will probably be frowned up and antagonise the situation even more.

"I want to be really careful regarding that. There is and has been [positives] but at this moment in time I am wary of that because of the situation, certainly coming out of the back of the weekend.

"I am not stupid, I understand where everyone is.

"Like I have said, before there have been many, many positives. I said it after the game, what changes it is winning. That's a word that's easy to say, but that is the only way us as a group, me as a manager and this team can probably get some air.

"We can only get it by winning."

More from Aston Villa boss Unai Emery on Jadon Sancho, who picked up first assist at the weekend.

He was asked how close Sancho was to producing the kind of consistent form he showed with Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga:

"We'll see again tomorrow. Of course, the first part of the season was not enough. He was trying, he was working, but he was not achieving the performances we needed. But the second part of the season he is getting better. He is getting something for him, for us.

"I spoke with him a few times about the challenge...and he must be very, very demanding of himself and consistent.

"But more and more, it's not time to wait for anyone. We need now to be focused and for everybody to be focused with their wishes and qualities to play to help the team.

"We believed in him at the beginning of the season. We were still believing in him in December and we still believe in him now. And now I think he's getting better and helping more and he's deserving to play more minutes like he's doing."

Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss on whether he would be interested in signing loan winger Jadon Sancho permanently, when his contract at Manchester United runs out at the end of the season:

"Not yet. But he's a fantastic player. Hopefully he can help us increase his qualities in our structure like he is doing.

"Of course, he will need another contract. Will it be here? It could be because if he is playing his best football we will want him. But if he's playing his better football then maybe another team will want him.

"This is football. Each match, the next match, this month, everything is very important for every player."

More from Aston Villa manager Unai Emery on how secure he feels in the Champions League places, with an eight-point cushion over sixth-placed Liverpool: "We are not thinking about the end of the season. We are thinking about now. We cannot speak about how we were in September. We are enjoying the process, we are competing. We are feeling comfortable with how we are doing our season. Up and down sometimes, but more up than down.

"Now we've had two defeats at home and can understand how something like this can happen.

"Tomorrow we have a new challenge, at home at Villa Park [against Brighton], to try to get our full energy, our full wishes and our focus to prepare the game and compete against a very good team.

"And to compete at Villa Park with our supporters, which is always very special for us to play there."

Let's start with Unai Emery's response to a question put to him about whether this was the most challenging period he has had since being appointed Aston Villa manager in October 2022:

"As a coach, I have to adapt in everything. But we have enough players and we have enough central midfielders.

"We must work and of course I believe in them.

"But someone like [Amadou] Onana needs to be consistent because he has [had] a small injury. And we are trying to get him playing how we can, manage his progress and his availability each match. Of course, he's very important with us.

"Ross Barkley is coming back after being injured and he is ready, another important player.

"And, of course, we have Douglas Luiz and he's been good. He played a good match on Saturday in Bournemouth.

"We are not missing players because we have enough players to play in the performance we had. The players that are available, they are very important and they must feel confident.

"Tomorrow they are available to play and perform as we need."

Our "final" post on Crystal Palace was a bit previous.

Manager Oliver Glasner has been speaking further about Jean-Philippe Mateta's plan until "at least the summer", how he is "convinced" the France striker will give his best in the final months of the season and that the Eagles fans will support him:

"It's important for him now that it's clear he will be a Crystal Palace player, at least until the summer.

"Right now, he doesn't need surgery, so it is clear what we need to do in the next couple of weeks. Clarity is the most important thing.

"I am 100% convinced that JP will give us his best when he wears the Eagles shirt again.

"I think he deserves the best support and I am pretty sure our fans will support him in the best way. They appreciate what he has done for Crystal Palace."

Wolves

Wolves manager Rob Edwards on playing 17th-placed Nottingham Forest, who are also in a relegation battle: "All the pressure is on them. Because they're at home, all the pressure is on them. They need to win the game, so we can go there and try as always to attack the game, try and be brave, maybe with a little less pressure on."

On Wolves' unlikely survival bid: "Obviously there's a lot of teams that are in the mix for the [bottom three]. So yeah there's good competition in those places. They've got a good team with good players. We've got to try and find a way to do it ourselves. But it'll be a really challenging one."

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolves manager Rob Edwards, whose side are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League, says forward Hwang Hee-chan is injured going into Wednesday's trip to Nottingham Forest:

"[He is] out. We'll re-scan him in a couple of weeks and see where he's at. It's his calf.

"Andre's been outside and jogging today, we'll give him as much time as possible and see where he's at.

"Toti [Gomes] is still obviously doing his individual work. He's getting on really well but won't be available tomorrow."

A final word from Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner on how difficult the last month has been for the club.

Palace captain Marc Guehi completed a move to Manchester City in January and Glasner confirmed he would not remain at the club past the end of his current contract, which ends in the summer.

The Eagles ended a 12-game winless run with a 1-0 victory at rivals Brighton on Sunday.

Glasner said: "For everyone who likes Crystal Palace then it is a tough period but that is sport and life. We had many, many months of enjoying and now it is more of finding solutions so it was nice to get the win at Brighton. A special win, of course, in the derby. We spoke about it often, we have more options now, more players are back."

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner on other team news: "Same squad available like at Brighton. Justin Devenny also returning to the squad."

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner added on how Jean-Philippe Mateta is after his knee injury, which led to a move to AC Milan falling through: "It was a disappointment but he is looking forward to the next months. It is good for him now that there is a final decision taken. Of course at the end he took the final decision with the recommendations with specialists and the medical departments, so they will do the rehab here at the training ground.

"He wants to be back as soon as possible and contribute to achieve our goals. That is his mindset and I think that is the best he can do."

Sunderland

We are flipping between the Crystal Palace and Sunderland managers at the moment.

Here's a final word from Black Cats boss Regis Le Bris on his team's performance in defeat to Arsenal on Saturday: "To be fair I think we played the game we wanted to play. We were bold and aggressive in our high press...they found solutions from shots outside of the box which is a good solution against a deep block.

"We had good control of the ball with 50% possession, which is positive. The main difference was the level of threat and I think they were really good at that.

"I think it shows we are getting better in this league."
