Austria and South Korea are meeting for the first time in an international match. South Korea's squad includes Tae-Seok Lee, a familiar player who is a regular for FK Austria Wien (22 league appearances this season, 21 starts, two goals and three assists).

Austria are unbeaten in their last 12 home matches (W9 D3), equalling their national record, previously achieved between 1971 and 1975 and 1922 and 1925. The ÖFB team could now set a new record, 124 years after their very first match in Vienna (5-0 against Hungary in October 1902).

Marcel Sabitzer and Michael Gregoritsch both recently scored their 24th international goal, drawing level with Karl Zischek in 10th place among Austria's all-time top scorers. Sabitzer recorded three goal involvements in an international match (1G 2A) for only the second time in the 5-1 win against Ghana, having previously done so in March 2023 in a European Championship qualifier against Azerbaijan (2G 1A).

Heung-min Son is South Korea's record appearance maker with 141 caps, while his 54 goals are only bettered by Bum-kun Cha (58). The 33-year-old was active for Tottenham Hotspur last season alongside Kevin Danso, with both coming on as substitutes in their Europa League final victory (1-0 against Manchester United).

Ralf Rangnick recently celebrated his 25th win in his 43rd international match as Austria's manager; only one manager in ÖFB history reached this milestone so early: his predecessor Franco Foda, also in his 43rd game (a 2-0 away win against the Faroe Islands). Florian Wiegele, Paul Wanner, Carney Chukwuemeka and David Affengruber recently became Rangnick's 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd ÖFB debutants.
