  4. 'We believe 100% that we can win it'published at 22:53 BST 7 April

    FT: Sporting 0-1 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, speaking to Amazon Prime, on his early saves: "It's something that I'm there for. I'm trying to help the team as much as possible in any single action, not just defending but commanding and on the ball.

"So delighted with myself performance and, of course, the win."

On save from Araujo: "I think that's a turning moment. It was a quick transition from them, great strike but I managed to get a fingertip to it to hit the bar. It's one of those moments that can change games."

On seventh Champions League clean this season: "That's something we've worked on a lot. It's so important for us, those clean sheets make it easier to win games. It showed tonight, scoring in the last minute and keeping that clean sheet decides those type of games."

On difference between 0-0 and 1-0: "I think everything. Coming here we knew it would be so, so difficult, especially with the run they've come from and we knew it was going to be a tough battle.

"It really was but scoring in the last minute was so important to go ahead at half-time of the tie. But now our heads are on Saturday."

On goalkeeper's mentality: "You have to be focused no matter what you're doing, whether you're touching the ball or not.

"That's something I've worked on over the years, you learn from previous situations where your head maybe goes and you're not ready. I try to be ready as much as possible during the game with some tricks to keep my mind focused on the ball."

On if Arsenal can win the Champions League: "We believe 100% that we can win it. We go game by game and show what we can do. I think it is the first time in so many years that we play three quarter-finals in a row. So we just have to focus on the present, that's the most important thing, but of course we have full belief.

"If you don't believe then you're never going to win it."

On key to getting over the line: "Just being ourselves. Try to go back to what we are. We've come from two losses, learn from those moments, that pain when you lose a game."Use that pain in the belly to go out there and express yourself, be yourself and try to be better every single day. That's the main message we have to send out there."

On David Raya's save onto the bar early in the match:

It shows the level David Raya plays at. It was incredible. I genuinely didn't feel like he got a touch at first. It's like everything slows down for him in goal and that's a good place to be for a goalkeeper. He's one of the best around right now.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to Amazon Prime: "Very happy to win away from homer in the quarter-finals of the Champions League against a team that have not lost at home for I don't know how long. I think the last time was probably in Europe as well, that shows the difficult of it."

On whether he thought his side might not score tonight: "Yes, because when we got into the final third and we sat there we missed the final bit. We had to be a little bit crisper, faster, more efficient to break them down when they had that block. We had a goal disallowed and there were two or three occasions where we were close but we lacked that final pass. In the end a magic moment from the finishers win us the game."

On what he thought of the winning moment: "Beautiful and that's the impact you need when you get to this stage of the season. Everybody has to make an impact and they certainly did that tonight."

On David Raya's performance: "He had two moments where he made two big saves. And that's the Champions League, the Champions League is always decided in the boxes and because there's so much quality here."

On Kai Havertz calling him the best goalkeeper in the world: "At the moment he's phenomenal and extraordinary since he joined us. We are very lucky to have him."

  8. 'We've earned the right to be confident'published at 22:41 BST 7 April

FT: Real Madrid 1-2 Bayern Munich

    Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany: "This stadium [Bernabeu] changes in the last 15 minutes, you have to be up for the battle. We can create the same experience at the Allianz Arena. We are looking forward to it.

"We had some chances we should have put to bed. Hopefully we will score at the Allianz, I see no reason we can't go on to win, but Real Madrid has incredible talent.

"The team has earned the right to be themselves, they have won so much and performed so well, so my first changes [substitutions] were like-for-like. But towards the end I did shut up shop."

On the player of the match performance of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer: "He makes it look so easy. With great goalkeepers, they make incredible saves at incredible angles look so easy. He is still very good with his positioning, defending the back line.

"We won't win the competition without more of these kind of performances."

On how Bayern need to approach the second leg: "It's important to continue our momentum. They [Real] will give us a tough game, they are the type of team that can do something special, but so can we.

"We have earned the right to be confident and be demanding in those games. But it's football, you never know.

"I'm not centre stages, it's the players. So I just try to give them a little word when I can, [like] something I might have done when i was playing. But it's a players game."

I thought Real Madrid really showed some spirit in the second half and Bayern took their foot off the gas. They made some changes and I think if it wasn't for Manuel Neuer, that game could have ended very differently.

Bayern Munich's Harry Kane spoke to TNT Sports: "All the hype around it, coming to Madrid and trying to get a result its always a difficult thing to do. We had some good chances, credit to them they did too. We can be really happy with the win and take it into next week.

"We've enjoyed some really good moments together. We're in the business end of the season now. The more you play and train together the feelings get even stronger. We always feel dangerous we always feel like we can score goals for sure.

"We're in a good position, we have to stay focused. Now it's just about recovering and the time will come next week to try and do the same again."

Bayern created a load of opportunities and you'd expect that with the way that they play.

But they were a bit wasteful, they could have scored more if they just pulled the trigger but they tried to pass in the perfect goal.

On what to change next week: "We lose two balls and they score two goals so we can't lose these types of balls because their players are so fast and so quick and have so much quality."

The difference between ties tonight was crazy. Arsenal are England's main chance of winning this, but they will come unstuck against Barcelona or Bayern Munich. I genuinely don't think they stand a chance.

Arsenal match-winner Kai Havertz, speaking to Amazon Prime: "To score a late goal is always nice, especially in front of the fans and we take that result. Still a lot of work to do next week but we take the result, for sure."

On the assist from Gabriel Martinelli: "Top, so much quality that guy. Obviously, as a striker or attacking midfielder you always wait for these moments. He made it so well so credit to Martinelli."

On if win was deserved: "It was quite an open game but I think mostly we controlled it quite well. But football is made from moments like this. Overall, I think we played a very good game and can be proud of ourselves. Now we recover and go again Saturday."

On bouncing back after two losses: "Definitely a big turnaround for us because we lost the last two matches. So we wanted to get a turnaround today and we made that happened.

"We stick together as a group, we have so much more to come this season. Seven weeks to go, we can win big titles and we're going to go for that."

On David Raya: "Unbelievable. I think still underestimated in the world of football but for me, the last two seasons, the best keeper in the world. He's outstanding, he's saved us so many times and we're very glad to have him."
