Coventry City have now scored 68 league goals this season

Coventry City made it back-to-back wins to strengthen their promotion hopes and push West Bromwich Albion deeper into relegation trouble.

Frank Lampard's Championship leaders picked up where they left off in Monday's 3-1 win over second-placed Middlesbrough as they brushed the Baggies aside at The Hawthorns.

Ephron Mason-Clark gave the Sky Blues an early lead with his seventh goal of the season before Jack Rudoni doubled the advantage with a superb long-range effort before the break.

West Brom, who have not picked up three points in the league since 29 December, are yet to win under Eric Ramsay in his eight games leaving them just a point above the drop zone.

Following goalless draws in their past two league games, Albion have now failed to score in four Championship matches and picked up just three points since the turn of the year.

Milan van Ewijk signed a new deal at the CBS Arena this week and he celebrated by laying on the opener for Mason-Clark after Frank Onyeka won possession. Van Ewijk fed the striker and he lobbed despairing Baggies goalkeeper Max O'Leary.

It was all Coventry and Joel Latibeaudiere went close to a second when he headed against the crossbar.

It was just a temporary let-off for West Brom and Coventry doubled their lead when they turned over possession and Rudoni was allowed far too much time and space before he let fly from 25 yards out with a left-foot rocket to score his first goal in 21 games.

West Brom tried to respond and Charlie Taylor and Jayson Molumby went close, but they only registered their sole effort on target in the 79th minute through Isaac Price.

Victor Torp squandered a great chance to make it 3-0 to Coventry in the closing stages and the final whistle was greeted with boos by the home fans.

'We let ourselves down' - Baggies reaction

West Brom boss Eric Ramsay told BBC Radio WM:

"I was extremely disappointed with the manner of the goals and to come away with nothing, which in our situation is far from ideal and not what we would want in any way.

"I felt we started the game positively and aggressively, we connected with the crowd and there was real energy. Then we really let ourselves down after five or six minutes. Unfortunately another goal followed that quickly and we gave ourselves a mountain to climb.

"There's no easy answer to our position and if there was an easy answer, someone would have arrived at it by now.

"We have to make sure we keep the approach, where we grind away, we don't get distracted, we make sure we push the messages we feel are important day to day and that the group responds to those."

'Professionalism pleased me' - Coventry reaction

Coventry boss Frank Lampard told BBC CWR:

"The overall professionalism of the game pleased me, how we approached it, two fantastic goals of real quality in different ways. We were never really threatened by them.

"In the second half, we wanted to be a bit more compact, with a mid-block, and make it harder for them because we could feel a little bit of anxiety in the stadium.

"The players delivered all those messages, which you have to do to get a good away win and a good away performance like this.

"It was a great goal from Ephron [Mason-Clark]. That gave us a good feeling, but we've lost some away games when we've gone a goal up, but we carried it on and then Rudi's [Jack Rudoni] goal was special.

"I'm delighted for him individually, how he's been training, how he's been playing. He's looked fitter and fresher and he's got a goal which is of the highest level."
