I felt for a moment he wasn't going to get that. If that happened, I would've flown off my seat. I don't think it's a deliberate handball, but the ball is going in. If the hand hadn't been put it out, the ball would've been in the back of the net.

Last weekend Newcastle took the lead before capitulating at Liverpool.

It is vital they don't do that today or the atmosphere could turn ugly quickly.

Here's a question. Why did Sandro Tonali take that corner? If it isn't broke, don't fix it. There was far too much on that.

What a response that is from Brentford.

You know what you are going to get from this side at the Gtech Community Stadium.

But they have really shown their mettle on the road in recent weeks.

No wonder manager Keith Andrews turned on his heels and punched the air after Vitaly Janelt's equaliser.

That's got to be a strong contender for cross of the season by Dango Ouattara.

Well, it's just classic and old school. Get down the line, get half a yard and get the ball in. Janelt is not being marked, he is a midfielder and no one is watching him. There's nothing the goalkeeper could do about that. We spoke about Ouattara swapping wingers, look at how it has gone.

    That's thoroughly deserved!

Brentford show their character once again as they get back on level terms through Vitaly Janelt's header.

    But what about that assist?

A quite wonderful cross by Dango Ouattara.

Dango Ouattara with Michael Kayode was doing really well on that right side, by Ouattara has now moved sides. Why is that? The answer, it's because how well Lewis Hall is doing going forward. They've put Keane Lewis-Potter there as a right winger/right-back. Lewis Hall is very good going forward.

There was a fear that St James' Park might be flat after Newcastle's Carabao Cup semi-final exit.

They've worked hard to get the lead and keep fans on board.

    It's lively and loud.

I think Newcastle are playing for corners right now. The whip, bend and pace mean that the goalkeeper is just never going to catch it. He's surrounded. Newcastle are not just going for the first ball, but they're waiting for the second too.

Newcastle United starting to play with more zip and confidence now. There's a different feel inside the stadium since Sven Botman's opener.

Keith Andrews said Brentford were going to have to be "calm" and handle swings in momentum at St James' Park. This was exactly what he meant.

Keith Andrews will not be happy. He didn't get that penalty, his side are playing well but they're behind. There's only a limited amount of chances in a game, that's the Premier League.

It's a brilliant bit of defending, it was going on target. I thought it was a terrible miss from Wissa, but he did everything right. Great from Janelt.
