Hibernian made it back-to-back Scottish Premiership wins with a goal in each half against Dundee at Easter Road.

Kieron Bowie missed two glorious close-range chances before making the breakthrough on the half hour with a fine shot on the turn.

Jamie McGrath added the second after the break, deceiving goalkeeper Jon McCracken with a clever, low strike.

McGrath had rattled the crossbar moments before, with Hibs dominant for long spells.

However, Dundee did pose a threat after going 2-0 down and Raphael Sallinger made two remarkable reflex saves to thwart Tony Yogane and Clark Robertson.

With four wins from their past six outings, Hibs remain in third place, while second-bottom Dundee have lost four in a row since their shock win over Celtic.

Analysis: Bowie gets ball rolling for slick Hibs

Bowie will be among the Scottish strikers hoping to make it into Steve Clarke's World Cup squad next summer and perhaps that was on his mind when he fluffed a shot inside the six-yard box and headed over from similar range.

But his sixth goal in four games against Dundee was a reminder of what he can do as he ended a nine-game drought with a classy finish.

A long cross-field pass from Dan Barlaser set Nicky Cadden free on the left to provide the delivery for Bowie and those two were prominent throughout a strong first-half display from the hosts.

Barlaser sets the tone from the centre of the pitch, always looking to get the ball forward, while Cadden's crossing is up there with the best in the league.

McCracken had to deal with shots from McGrath, Barlaser and Mulligan in the opening 45 minutes, while Martin Boyle hit the side-netting as the hosts cut through Dundee time and time again.

The goalkeeper was later grasping at air when McGrath hit the woodwork and was left flat-footed when the Irish midfielder raked the ball inside his near post, with Bowie teeing him up.

Mulligan then sent a fierce shot just wide against his former club.

Dundee had a mere two touches in the opposition box before the interval, with Simon Murray's shot blocked at a corner.

Steven Pressley's side had been completely overrun but will feel they could have snatched an unlikely draw, given the golden chances that fell to Yogane and Robertson.

On both occasions, Sallinger made incredible saves to make sure Hibs held on for the three points their earlier efforts merited.

What they said

Hibs head coach David Gray: "We could have had the game out of sight earlier. All in all, a really good day's work.

"Credit to Dundee, they had a real go towards the end and the goalkeeper makes a big save, which allows us to see the game out pretty comfortably.

"I believe there's a lot more to come from Kieron Bowie. He's got a massive journey ahead of him. It's not just goals that he brings to the team, there's the unselfish work he does that goes unseen at times."

Dundee manager Steven Pressley: "You'll see from the team I selected we didn't come here to sit in. We came to be aggressive in our play and I think we were that.

"No-one likes losing games, but within the loss I see progression and that's important for me.

"Their goalkeeper made a couple of incredible saves. It was difficult to see [if we should have had a penalty]."
