Dominic Calvert-Lewin continued his fine scoring run to rescue a point for Leeds against Brentford at Gtech Community Stadium.

The striker netted for the fourth straight game - the first time since five for Everton in 2020 - with a close-range header in the 82nd minute.

It cancelled out Jordan Henderson's first Brentford goal with a deflected effort in the 70th minute - the England midfielder's first Premier League goal since December 2021 for Liverpool in a Merseyside derby.

In a game of few chances, Brentford were awarded a penalty late in the first half when Dango Ouattara felt contact from Gabriel Gudmundsson, but the decision was overturned for offside after a lengthy check by the video assistant referee (VAR).

Bees goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher made four saves, but was never seriously troubled until summer signing Calvert-Lewin was afforded too much space to guide his header home.

Brentford climb up to 14th in the standings, with Leeds 17th and three points clear of the relegation zone.

Brentford missed out on 3 points due to a late equaliser

Following successive defeats at Arsenal and Tottenham, boss Keith Andrews made four changes to his starting line-up in the hope of getting back on track at fortress Gtech.

Brentford have picked up 17 of their 20 points this term on home soil - only Arsenal, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Sunderland have enjoyed greater success on their own patch.

Keane Lewis-Potter's snap shot was their only attacking moment of note in the first half after VAR had denied the Bees a chance to score from the penalty spot.

They eventually got the breakthrough when Henderson's low effort struck visiting defender Jaka Bijol on its way to the net.

At 35 years and 180 days, he became Brentford's oldest ever Premier League scorer and marked it with a celebration tribute to former Liverpool team-mate Diogo Jota, who died in a car crash, along with his brother Andre Silva, in July.

But Andrews' side were unable to build momentum and guilty of letting Leeds' talisman Calvert-Lewin rise to head in the equaliser from Wilfried Gnonto's cross.

It is just the second time this season Brentford have dropped points at home - also doing so against Manchester City.

Daniel Farke's future as Leeds manager has looked much more secure since he switched things up to play with a 3-5-2 formation earlier this month.

An agonising injury-time loss at Manchester City, victory over Chelsea and comeback draw against Liverpool helped to silence his critics and the German set his side out in that same structure once again at Brentford.

Those results are likely to have earned Farke enough credit to keep his job if they lost at Brentford, but his players showed similar spirit to ensure that wasn't the case.

Leeds undoubtedly look more organised at the back in this new system and nullified the hosts for most of the game.

Heads could have dropped when they conceded the opener but Henderson's goal only served to galvanise the visitors.

Calvert-Lewin had a largely quiet game, but there was little doubt he would convert when he leaped high in the air to meet Gnonto's cross.

Farke said he was "desperate" to sign the 28-year-old on a free transfer following his release by Everton and, after a slow start, Leeds are now reaping the rewards as he stays fit and shows the form that earned him England honours.

Calls for a return to the Three Lions fold may feel premature, but if he maintains this scoring streak, he might help save Leeds from relegation and force his way into the reckoning for a spot at the 2026 World Cup.
