Highlights: Larne 1-0 Glentoran

Benji Magee scored the winning goal with eight minutes remaining as Larne defeated Glentoran 1-0 in the Irish Premiership.

The win keeps Larne level on points with Coleraine, who are ahead on goal difference, but Glentoran fall 11 points off the title pace.

After a quiet opening, Larne carved out the first real chance of the game after a quarter of an hour when they broke quickly down the left flank but Tiarnan O'Connor could only divert Sean Graham's low cross wide of the near post.

Glentoran responded with Cammy Palmer getting into a good position on the right but his diagonal effort was wide of the target but also too far for the in-rushing Pat Hoban to reach.

Paul O'Neill had a couple of half-chances for the home side, firstly as he challenged Glentoran keeper Andrew Mills for a loose ball then, when the ball was recycled, he almost got on the end of Leroy Millar's cross, only for defender Jonny Russell to make a timely intervention.

A rare slip by Aaron Donnelly almost presented Glentoran with a chance but when Pat Hoban rolled the ball across the face of the penalty area, Liam Burt's shot was brilliantly blocked by the sliding challenge of Chris Gallagher.

The ball broke to Joe Thomson on the edge of the Larne penalty area but his shot, although well-struck, was too close to keeper Rohan Ferguson.

At the other end, substitute Magee who found Matty Lusty but his shot was well blocked by Michael-John Kamson-Kamara.

The deadlock was eventually broken with eight minutes left thanks to a moment of individual brilliance from Magee.

There seemed little danger when the former Loughgall striker picked up the ball 25 yards from goal but he drifted away from Cammy Palmer and rifled a low angled drive beyond the reach of Andrew Mills from just outside the penalty area.

Glentoran had a late chance to equalise when Jordan Stewart collected a Kamson-Kamara knockdown but his low shot whistled just wide of the near post.
