Wigan Athletic have signed experienced defender Jack Hunt on a contract until the end of the season.

The 35-year-old was a free agent, having ended a short-term deal last month with Stockport County, for whom he played 13 games.

Hunt has played more than 500 times in his career with clubs including Huddersfield Town, Bristol City and Sheffield Wednesday.

"Jack is a dependable, experienced defender who will add leadership on and off the pitch and his versatility and professionalism make him an excellent fit for the group," said, external Wigan's sporting director Gregor Rioch.

He is Wigan's third acquisition of the transfer window following the loan captures of Joe Taylor and Owen Moxon.
