Dover Athletic 2-1 FC Halifax Town

  • Published

Dover's hopes of National League survival received a huge boost with a 2-1 win over Halifax.

The hosts were ahead in the 25th minute when a fine passing move ended with Jai Reason setting up Alfie Pavey for a simple side-foot finish.

Dover's second goal was rather more fortuitous as Anthony Jeffrey found the net with what appeared to be a misplaced cross just after the hour mark.

Town were gifted a route back into the game just minutes later when Dover failed to deal with a long ball, allowing Matty Kosylo to pounce and loop a header over Lee Worgan.

But the Shaymen rarely threatened to complete the comeback and the win gives Dover a five-point cushion over the bottom four.
