Chris H: People really complaining about this because batteries are involved? Great racing once again and a joy to see drivers battling at the front without a certain someone barging other drivers off the track.

Lee: It’s not the elite sport anymore - better to show Go-karts now

Jaye: Great to see both Ferraris, but especially Lewis Hamilton back in the fight. Hope Ferrari can work out what Mercedes are doing different to everyone else (even their customer teams). Can’t let Mercedes run away with this.

    Lap 19/19

George Russell is leading the sprint as the final lap begins but the Ferrari Charles Leclerc isn't too far behind. A quick look in the mirrors for the Briton as the two reach the long back straight and he should see he's clear of the Monegasque driver and on for another win in 2026.

George Russell has gone early. He saw Charles Leclerc had a huge oversteer out of Turn 14 and George Russell is down the road.

    Lap 18/19

Oscar Piastri has been told by McLaren to give the place back to Kimi Antonelli, who has now reached the Australian's rear wing after passing Oliver Bearman and Liam Lawson. Piastri doesn't hesitate and once Antonelli is close enough, the pair switch places.

Lewis Hamilton is also on the move and the Ferrari man has overtaken Lando Norris for third.

  11. Safety carpublished at 03:33 GMT

    Lap 16/19

Cadillac's Perez has been noted for a safety car infringement, as his team-mate Valtteri Bottas has retired from this short sprint race with a loss of power.

Nico Hulkenberg's Audi is being taken away, so we should be going racing once again...

Norris has got ahead of Hamilton because Hamilton had to stack behind Charles Leclerc. So he is slow into the pits, while Ferrari service Leclerc and I think we have a similar situation for Oscar Piastri who stacked behind Norris and that's why he has dropped down to eighth.

  13. Safety carpublished at 03:31 GMT

    Lap 15/19

Liam Lawson and Oliver Bearman have gained a few places under this safety, as the pair both stayed out when the safety car was called.

George Russell leads, Charles Leclerc is second, Lando Norris is third and Lewis Hamilton sits in fourth where he started this sprint. All four have switched to the softs.

  14. Safety carpublished at 03:28 GMT

    Lap 14/19

The safety car has emerged and drivers dive into the pits. Kimi Antonelli completed a move on Charles Leclerc to retake the second place he started in but it looks like he's serving his 10-second time penalty now. He comes out and rejoins the action in seventh place.

All that work of George Russell getting a five second lead has now effectively come to nothing. This is music to Ferrari's ears, Charles Leclerc has the opportunity.

The yellow flags are out and it's Nico Hulkenberg who has come to a stop in the Audi.

  17. Russell leads sprintpublished at 03:24 GMT

    Lap 12/19

After a frantic couple of laps, just like in Melbourne, George Russell has peeled off into the distance and is leading comfortably heading into the closing stages.

The two McLarens are fifth and sixth - Lando Norris is clear of Oscar Piastri - while rookie Arvid Lindblad has been told to retire the Racing Bulls.

For me it was fantastic racing between two world class, two of the best out there. I wouldn't want to be Fred Vasseur. Great to see so much action, great to see so many overtakes early on in the race. This is what I think F1 is missing. We can say we are not happy with the cars or regulations currently, but what a great advertisement for F1, the first 10 laps has been in China.

    Lap 11/19

Kimi Antonelli has had an eventful sprint race in China. The Italian started on the front row but another slow start saw him tumble down the order. He's back up into third, with a 10-second time penalty, and is hustling Charles Leclerc for second.
